Grant sought for Mine 40 sewer replacement

By Kirk Swauger
The Tribune-Democrat

SOMERSET The Somerset County Redevelopment Authority will apply for a competitive state grant to replace misaligned, deteriorated sanitary sewers in the Mine 40 neighborhood of Paint Borough.

The county commissioners on Tuesday approved submitting the $300,000 Community Development Block Grant application to the state Department of Community and Economic Development.

If approved, the grant would be paired with a $241,000 grant from the federal Environmental Protection Agency that the authority received three years ago.
