Five people were taken to a hospital Thursday night as the result of a two-vehicle crash in Hastings Borough, authorities said.
Michael Thomas, 22, of Hastings, was driving a 2000 Subaru on Huber Street around 9:55 p.m. when the vehicle was hit in the side as he passed through the intersection, Hastings police Chief Ronald Sharkey Sr. said.
The other vehicle, a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu, was driven by Shirley Overman, 57, of Commodore. She was traveling on Haida Avenue when her car struck the Subaru and then hit a fence, Sharkey said.
The two passengers in her vehicle were identified as her husband, Robert Overman, 63, and Sheldon Keith, 64, of Cherry Tree.
Meghan Chapuran, 22, of New Jersey, was riding in Thomas’ vehicle.
All five were taken to Miners Hospital in Hastings.
Sharkey said Chapuran was being examined Thursday night. A hospital spokeswoman said Friday there was no record on her.
The other four were treated and later released, he said.
The investigation is continuing.
