IN BRIEF | Girls report kidnap attempt

PORTAGE – The Labor Day holiday afternoon was marred by reports of an attempted kidnapping on Caldwell Avenue, borough police said.

Two girls were walking when a green Dodge truck with an extended cab pulled over and the driver asked if they wanted to see a puppy.

The truck’s license plate ends in 2992, police said.



Revloc firefighters douse kitchen blaze

REVLOC – A grease fire got out of control in a kitchen at a home on Harding Avenue about 2:30 p.m. Monday.

Revloc Volunteer Fire Company put out the blaze before it spread to more areas of the house, according to Cambria 911.



Liquor Control cites Nanty Glo tavern

NANTY GLO – Skinner’s Bar & Grill, 997 First St., has been cited for license violations including loud music and serving alcohol to a “visibly intoxicated” patron.

The state Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement cited the establishment for the June 13 and 25 incidents. They will be brought before an administrative law judge.



Memory Walks to aid Alzheimer’s group

Two Memory Walks – the signature fundraising and awareness event for the Alz-heimer’s Association – are scheduled in the region.

They are:

• The Johnstown Memory Walk, Sept. 12 at Roxbury Park.

Registration is at 8 a.m. and the walk is scheduled to begin at 9.

• Westmoreland Memory Walk, Sept. 19 at Legion Keener Park in Latrobe.

Registration is at 9 a.m. and the walk is slated for 10.
