A state trooper who lived with the estranged wife of a western Pennsylvania dentist won’t stand trial on charges he killed the doctor until next year.
Forty-three-year-old Trooper Kevin Foley has denied any role in the slashing death of Dr. John Yelenic, of Blairsville, in April 2006.
Foley remains jailed without bond and was scheduled for trial in November.
But Indiana County court administrators say Foley’s attorneys have asked to delay the trial until 2009. That request has been granted, although an exact date has not been scheduled.
Michelle Yelenic was divorcing her husband and living with Foley when the dentist was slashed to death. She has never been charged in his death but has filed papers in a related wrongful death suit denying any role in the murder.
