Woman charged with robbery attempt

The Tribune-Democrat

ROCKWOOD A Rockwood woman was charged with robbery after a failed attempt to steal smokeless tobacco from S&S Quick Stop outside Rockwood around 11:30 a.m. Friday.

Jacqueline Faye Moore, 20, also was charged by state police with attempted theft, aggravated assault, terroristic threats and endangering the welfare of a child.

She was arraigned before District Judge Sandra Stevanus of Confluence and lodged in the Somerset County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.

Police said Moore left her 5-month-old son in her apartment, walked to the store and waited for customers to leave.

She then put on a mask, pointed what turned out to be a toy gun at the clerk and told the clerk to hand over all the smokeless tobacco or she would shoot her.

The clerk refused her demand and Moore left the store and returned home, police said.
