NEW – Police will charge arsonist with firefighter death

WESTOVER State police in say whoever set fire to an abandoned building will also be charged with criminal homicide in the death of a volunteer firefighter who suffered a heart attack responding to the blaze.

Nobody has been charged with setting the fire about 12:30 a.m. Saturday in Westover, Clearfield County.

Forty-one-year-old Roy Westover Jr. suffered a heart attack and died at Miners Medical Hospital in Hastings less than two hours after responding to the fire.

Westover was a member of the Westover Area Fire Department.

Westover’s wife died three years ago. He was raising three teenage sons. Two of the boys were junior members of the fire department.
