Johnstown Halloween parade winners named

JOHNSTOWN Forever Broadcasting announced the results of the parade judging for the 41st annual Johnstown Halloween Parade.

Forever Broadcasting – which operates 96KEY, Froggy 95, Rocky 99, Hot 92 and WNTJ/WNTW – estimated that 10,000 people attended the festivities and more than 100 units participated.

Main division sponsors for this year’s parade were Laurel Auto Group, Kulback Eye Care and Chiropractic, and Sheetz Corp.

Community sponsors included District Attorney Patrick Kiniry, Don’t Throw Your Life Away, Don’t Do Drugs Campaign, AmeriServ, Amfire Mining, Wal-Mart, Cambria Rowe Business College, Thermadoor Garage Doors, Windber Medical Center, Mazzei and Associates, and Conemaugh Township Rotary Club.

Entries were evaluated along the parade route by five judges from the community.

Scores were tabulated and combined to determine the winners of each category.

Winners of the parade, held Tuesday, are:

Best of division

• Division 1: Johnstown area Brownie troop dressed as penguins.

• Division 2: Sharon’s Dance Studio.

• Division 3: Johnstown Harley Riders.

• Division 4: Highland Excavating.



Individual entry awards

• Best costumed marching unit: (tie) Blacklick Valley band and Westmont band.

• Best nonprofit costumed unit: Easter Seals Western Pennsylvania, Cambria County Chapter.

• Best commercial float: Best Window and Door Co.

• Best costumed Brownie/Daisy troop: Junior Troop 40751.

• Scariest float: Houston’s Haunted Hallow.

• Best noncommercial float: Rusty Nutz Car Club.

• Best costumed Girl Scout troop: Junior Troop 40950.

• Best costumed Cub/Boy Scout pack: Cub Pack 182.

• Best costumed band: Conemaugh Valley High School.

• Funniest float: The Home Depot.

• Best high school band: Forest Hills.

• Most original noncommercial float: Keystone Patriots.

• Best dance/cheerleading unit: PWFL Cheerleaders.

• Best fire department: Lower Yoder Township.

• Most original commercial float: Cernic’s.

• Best costumed pet: Diamond R. Enterprizes – miniature horse carts.
