NEW – Man killed in ultralight plane crash in Bedford County

CHANEYSVILLE — State police and federal officials are investigating a fatal ultralight plane crash.

Bedford County Coroner Sam Gordon says 68-year-old Helmut Neubrand, of Clearville, was killed when his craft crashed into some trees in Southampton Township.

Neubrand died of chest trauma.

County emergency management officials say the crash occurred about 4:15 p.m. Monday.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency have been notified of the crash.
