Cambria Township supervisors learned this week that their Revloc Park on Route 422 is one of seven recreational facilities in the county slated for state-funded improvements.
At an estimated cost of $30,792, three handicapped parking spaces with signage will be added, plus an accessible walking trail and walkway to the existing pavilions and new playground.
Before their meeting earlier this week, supervisors received a letter of notification from Larry Custer, executive director of the Cambria County Redevelopment Authority, saying that Revloc would be one of the communities to benefit.
Scheduled improvements will include the construction of handicapped-accessible parking areas and walkways, consisting of site preparation, placement of crushed stone, bituminous and cement concrete paving, erosion control, quality control, site restoration and related improvements.
The supervisors said they welcome word of the plans to improve Revloc Park, a popular picnic and recreation spot.
Other community projects listed in the letter are:
n Kartes Street playground, Brownstown Borough: Construction of two handicapped parking spaces with signage, plus construction of a walkway to the new playground equipment area, $12,000.
n Lorain Park, Lorain Borough: Two handicapped parking spaces with signage, an access road and 60 feet of 5-foot-wide wide walkway to an existing playground equipment area, $12,600.
n Straub Lane playground, Scalp Level Borough: Two handicapped parking spaces with signage and 35 feet of walkway to a new playground equipment area, $17,500.
n Cooper Avenue ball field, West Taylor Township: Two handicapped parking spaces, bleacher and pavilion pads and 420 feet of walkway to a reconstructed ball field and new bleachers, $21,400.
n Library Park playground, South Fork Borough: One handicapped parking space and
150 feet of walkway to a new playground equipment area, $10,396.
n Veterans Park, Cresson Township: Two handicapped parking spaces, 8-foot-wide walkway to newly renovated ball field, including the dugouts and bleachers, $30,792.
The redevelopment authority will be the lead agency on the seven projects.
