Police: Mom endangered toddler son

By PATRICK BUCHNOWSKI
The Tribune-Democrat

CRESSON A Cresson Borough woman was jailed after authorities said she injected heroin and was hallucinating while caring for her 2-year-old son.

Aliesha Gale Gorden, 24, of Cherry Street, was charged with endangering the welfare of children, possession of drug paraphernalia and giving false identification to law enforcement authorities.

In a court document, state police in Ebensburg said Golden showed up at a neighbor’s house Wednesday morning hallucinating, saying she was shooting up on heroin, and believing people were walking on her roof and crawling under her trailer.

The neighbor told troopers Golden’s son had a urine-soaked, dirty diaper.

Golden allegedly left a syringe on her neighbor’s porch, and a half-empty bottle of hard alcohol was found in her trailer, police said.

Troopers discovered Golden had given a false name after her mother showed up to care for the child.

Troopers said Golden told them she had given a different name because Children and Youth officials in Westmoreland County are investigating her because she was arrested for drunken driving with her son in the car and she didn’t want to lose custody of the boy.

Golden was arraigned by District Judge Rick Varner of Salix and sent to the Cambria County Prison after failing post $50,000 bond.
