In brief: Accident closes part of Route 219
CARROLLTOWN – Route 219 in East Carroll Township was closed for a time Saturday evening between Dutch Road and Route 553 following a traffic accident.
The accident involved a utility pole and wires, the Cambria County Department of Emergency Services said in a release at about 5 p.m. Saturday.
Dennis Platt, a spokesman for Penelec, said about 90 customers lost power by the 4:10 p.m. accident. Power was expected to be restored by 11 p.m.
State police did not immediately release details of the accident.
Free flu shots being offered
The state Department of Health is offering free flu shots to anyone older than 18.
The walk-in clinic will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday at Cambria County State Health Center, 184 Donald Lane, Suite 1, in Richland Township.

Two charged with drug trafficking
CRESSON – A local woman and a Philadelphia man were arrested Thursday by the Cambria County Drug Task Force on felony charges of trafficking in heroin in Cresson Township.
Tammy Klein, 28, of the 200 block of Hickory Street, and Atayay “Ito” Robles-Vasquez were taken into custody when task force – along with investigators from the township police, FBI and the state Attorney General’s Office – searched a Red Oak Lane residence.
More than $1,000 cash, a small amount of heroin and drug paraphernalia were seized during the search, District Attorney Patrick Kiniry said.
Both Klein and Robles-Vasquez were arraigned before District Judge Rick Varner of Sidman and lodged in the Cambria County Prison, Robles-Vasquez in lieu of $125,000, and Klein, $25,000.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 15 before Varner.
Friedens pair injured in wreck
SOMERSET – The driver of a 2005 Chevy Cavalier was flown to Memorial Medical Center with major injuries Friday night following a single-car crash on Route 601.
State police identified the injured driver as Bradford A. Miller, 21, of Friedens. His passenger, Nicole Firestone, 19, of Friedens, was taken to Memorial by ambulance with moderate injury, police said.
Troopers said Miller was charged with DUI. They said he also was driving too fast for conditions when he slid on the road while trying to pass and lost control of the car.
The Cavalier wrecked into a utility pole.
