A Lincoln Township man is in the Somerset County Jail after state police said he placed a loaded gun to his wife’s head and threatened to shoot her.
Beryl Addison Geary Jr., 35, was jailed on $25,000 bond after being arraigned before on-call District Judge Art Cook of Somerset early Thursday morning.
Shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday, state police said they responded to a 911 hang-up call in which a woman said she had been threatened with a gun.
When they arrived at the home on Neri Road, authorities said the woman told them she had been arguing with her husband.
After she went to their SUV to retrieve college books, Geary allegedly placed a gun to the back of her head and told her to say her last words, state police said in a court document.
Geary then drove off, but not before his wife overheard him telling a friend that he would meet him at the Italian Oven on Route 31 in Somerset.
Two hours later, state police said they spotted the SUV pulling out of the restaurant’s parking lot and stopped the vehicle at the nearby Giant Eagle.
They said a loaded .357 Smith and Wesson revolver was found in the vehicle, along with open beer cans.
Geary is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, terroristic threats, carrying a firearm without a license, drunken driving, harassment, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, careless driving and operating a vehicle with an open can of alcohol inside.
