Shooting victim identified

JOHNSTOWN — Police have identified the man injured in a Sunday afternoon shooting in the Hornerstown section of the city.

Stephen Huger, 23, of Johnstown, was struck in the shoulder during the incident along Fronheiser Street near Bedford Street, police said.

Police have little information about details surrounding the shooting, which occurred about 2 p.m. Sunday on the 100 block of Fronheiser Street.

Huger was taken in a friend’s car to Memorial Medical Center following the shooting. Police said the injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

He was not able to provide the name of his assailant, Johnstown police Capt. Andrew Frear said.

“We spoke with him at the hospital,” Frear said. “He had no idea who the person was who was shooting at him.”

Initial calls from the scene on Sunday reported multiple gunshots.

The suspect is described only as a black male, wearing a green beanie-skull cap, Frear said.

In addition, two vehicles were observed in the area. They are red or burgundy in color, Frear said.

Foust said police are investigating whether the incident was related to another shooting last week near Solomon Homes.

A supervisor at Memorial Medical Center said Huger was no longer a patient there Monday afternoon.
