Police investigate theft of copper wire

Occurred in Carrolltown area

CARROLLTOWN — State police are looking for whoever stole a large quantity of copper cable from Global Mine Service in East Carroll Township.

Police said that sometime Monday (Oct. 29), the theft or thieves took 500 feet of 3/0 gauge; 170 feet of 2/0 gauge; and 200 feet of 4/0 gauge.

    On Tuesday, Somerset County’s three commissioners unanimously agreed to a demolition plan for the building, which was constructed in the 1880s. The arrangement calls for a private citizen, William Nair, to tear down the structure at 703 Main St. in exchange for being allowed to keep any salvageable materials.
