Update: Richland police searching for intruders

JOHNSTOWN — Richland Township police are looking for two men who allegedly forced their way into a Lydia Street home Thursday night and shot a 38-year-old man with a handgun.

The victim was taken to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center with a gunshot wound of the head.

Police are searching for a motive in the shooting. Township police Chief Mike Burgan said he does not believe the shooting was random. He believes the man was targeted.

Two people were inside the home at the time.

Police are not releasing the name of the victim, and are reviewing surveillance videos from businesses in the area.

Also assisting with the investigation are the district attorney’s office and the FBI.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police through the Cambria 911 Center’s nonemergeny line at 800-281-1680.
