EBENSBURG — The time to get out the fishing poles, kayaks, tents and hiking boots is almost here.

And, with the summer recreation season quickly approaching, state Rep. Frank Burns,

D-East Taylor Township, wants to make sure people have the information needed to have a safe and enjoyable experience when outdoors. The congressman has scheduled a Sportsmen’s Expo on May 18 at the Young Peoples Community Center in Ebensburg Borough.

The event is planned to run from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

“This will be my first Sportsmen’s Expo, and I want to make sure that all outdoor activities are addressed at this event,” Burns said. “With summer just around the corner, I believe it’s important to provide helpful information on safety and the wealth of outdoor activities in the commonwealth, from hunting, fishing, boating, hiking and camping to the wonderful natural recreational areas and state resources that are available.”

Representatives from the Pennsylvania Game Commission, Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and other state entities are expected to attend.

Any other organizations interested in participating can contact Burns’ office at 536-8400 by April 15.
