Pittsburgh area woman dies in Route 22 crash

JOHNSTOWN — A Pittsburgh area woman was killed Sunday afternoon after she crashed her vehicle driving at a high rate of speed on Route 22 in Jackson Township, investigators said.

Annette Medley, 55, of East Pittsburgh Borough, died in the crash after she lost control of her Dodge automobile heading east on the highway near the Jesus Saves Church, Cambria County Coroner Dennis Kwiatkowski said.

Medley’s car struck a jersey barrier and then hit a guide rail before continuing off the road and over a steep embankment, he added.

Her vehicle traveled 150 feet down, Kwiatkowski said.

A passenger in her car, whose name and condition were not available, was flown by helicopter to Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown for treatment, Kwiatkowski said.

Jackson Township police are investigating the accident.

Medley was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:25 p.m., a little more than an hour after the crash occurred, he said.
