Atlantic Broadband boosting Web speeds

JOHNSTOWN — Massachusetts-based Atlantic Broadband announced this week it is boosting Internet speeds by 50 percent or more to some of its high-speed service offerings in Johnstown.

Ongoing investments in the local digital network have allowed the cable provider to increase its top Internet service – “Unleashed” – from 40 megabytes per second to 75 mbps.  The company’s most popular “Express” option, currently at 20 mbps, will now jump to 30 mbps, company officials said.

“Consumers’ appetite for speed is always increasing,” Atlantic Broadband’s chief marketing and strategy officer, David Isenberg, said. “As customers unwrap new Xbox One and PS4 gaming consoles or new tablet devices this holiday season, we are here for them with a fast and reliable network to help them enjoy their gifts.”

Those currently subscribing to either package will automatically receive the Internet speed upgrades, he said.

The company lists its Express service for $39.99 per month and Unleashed at $72.99 per month on its website to new customers.
