Man faces child porn charges

WINDBER — A 70-year-old Somerset man faces child pornography charges and other crimes after a visitor to his former Stadium Terrace apartment noticed questionable images on his computer.

Daryle H. Burket, now of the 800 block of East Main Street in Somerset, is charged with 15 counts each of sexual abuse of children and corruption of minors, both related to possessing child pornography, and one count of distributing obscene material.

Police said the visitor notified them after seeing a nude picture of a child about 6 to 9 years old displayed on Burket’s computer during a visit to the apartment in August.

Paint Township police seized Burket’s computer, along with some CDs and DVDs during a search of the Stadium Terrace apartment.

The items were sent to a state police crime lab for analysis by the computer crimes division.

State troopers were able to extract more than 30 images of young girls, nude and clothed.

Paint Township police have issued an arrest warrant for Burket.
