The Boise Street playground in Geistown is getting a new look.
The community is pulling together to clean up the neighborhood playground, where swings and equipment have been neglected.
The cleanup is set for 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 19.
“We’re going to take this playground and revitalize it,” Geistown’s council president, Joseph Sernell, said. “That’s a huge neighborhood icon in that part of the borough.
“My grandmother used to take me there to make crafts,” he said.
Councilwoman Kim Mock is spearheading the cleanup effort, with borough workers, community members and businesses participating, Sernell said.
Volunteers are needed. Anyone interested in participating is asked to be at the park at 8 a.m.
Businesses are donating food for volunteers, Sernell said.
