Paint supervisors shuffle positions

— Paint Township supervisors shuffled their board positions Monday, saying the move was necessary because efforts to have Supervisor Dave Blough properly bonded as secretary/treasurer were unsuccessful this spring.

“It’s a state requirement for (a secretary-treasurer), so we had to appoint someone else,” Supervisor Andy Tvardzik said.

Blough said a “personal issue” prevented him from being able to be bonded but he declined to get into specifics. He noted that it had “nothing to do” with his role as township roadmaster or the ongoing state ethics probe into Paint Township’s operations.

The board said recent changes have made it more difficult to bond a public official for the position.

Supervisors held a special meeting Monday to make the position shifts. The board voted to name Blough chairman, Tvardzik vice chairman and Supervisor Joe Huff Jr. as secretary-treasurer.
