Police: Burglary suspect stole more than $1,000 in property

TIRE HILL — A man was jailed Thursday after police said he burglarized a home in Conemaugh Township, Somerset County, and stole items valued at more than $1,000.

Joseph Daniel Wurth, 23, of the 1300 block of Coon Ridge Road in the township, was charged with burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, criminal trespass and possession of drug paraphernalia.

In a criminal complaint, township police alleged that Wurth burglarized a home in the 2500 block of Somerset Pike on Thursday. He is accused of making off with a $900 large-screen television and a $200 camcorder.

Police said that when officers stopped his vehicle on Route 985, they found the TV in the back seat.

Wurth was arraigned by on-call District Judge Susan Mankamyer of Boswell and sent to the Somerset County Jail after failing to post 10 percent of $40,000 bond.
