— Nearly five miles of Richland Township roads, including much of Oakridge Drive, will be paved this year, township officials said.

Township supervisors tentatively approved a $447,116 offer from Johnstown-based Quaker Sales to mill and repave all or part of 10 roads in Richland, including Alvin, Bertmin and Hastings streets.

Quaker’s offer was the lower of two bids by about $7,000.

Supervisor Bob Heffelfinger said most of the roads in the corridor have needed upgrades for several years.

“They needed work when I started as a supervisor back in 2005,” Heffelfinger said.

Work is slated to begin by the end of the month.

The other roads due for paving are Shaw Avenue, Camelot Court, and Rean, Rena, Elmar and Suie streets.

Township officials said the timetable and work will depend on the weather.
