Firefighters battle barn fire in Milford Twp.

NEW CENTERVILLE — A dozen companies from three counties battled a multi-alarm barn fire Wednesday evening on Cross Road in Milford Township.

Somerset County 911 officials said responders from as far away as Westmoreland and Fayette counties were called to help fight the blaze, located at the Pyle farm near New Centerville.

A 911 supervisor said the fire was called in at 6:09 p.m. and calls for backup followed.

New Centerville, Rockwood, Bakersville, Confluence, Somerset and Meyersdale fire departments remained at the scene as of 8 p.m., the supervisor said. Crews from Garrett, Addison and Sipesville were also on scene.

Some units were still at the site late Wednesday.
