A 3-year-old girl died Saturday after she wandered into an unattended swimming pool
at a private residence in the 500 block of Woodvale Avenue.
Cambria County Chief Deputy Coroner Jeffrey Lees identified the girl as Jordin Sisco, who was spending the night at the Woodvale home.
The child was at the home for a sleepover with her father, Brian Sisco of Pennsylvania Avenue, Lees said.
“It was a drowning death. The manner of death is accidental,” Lees said. “It’s just a tragic thing.”
Lees said the adults at the house awoke Saturday morning and realized Jordin was not inside the house.
“They started looking for her and found her in the bottom of the pool,” he said.
An ambulance was called and CPR immediately administered.
She died at 1:02 p.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, Lees said.
Adults had been working with the girl in attempts to teach her how to swim, Lees said.
Water in the above-ground pool was about 4 feet deep and there was no fence around the structure to restrict access, he said.
A wooden deck is located along the side.
The investigation into the drowning is continuing with Cambria County detectives assisting the Johnstown Police Department, Lees said.
Cambria County Coroner Dennis Kwiatkowski said some type of security around swimming pools is essential, especially when children are present.
