City man facing assault charges

JOHNSTOWN — A Johnstown man was jailed Thursday after he allegedly assaulted a woman and then kept her imprisoned inside his home, authorities said.

City police charged Michael A. Walker, 34, with false imprisonment, unlawful restraint, simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.

In a criminal complaint, Walker’s girlfriend said she was at his Corrine Street house when an argument broke out. The woman told police that Walker punched her in the left eye. The woman said she tried to leave several times but Walker would push her away from the door.

She finally was able to push past him and run out the door, police said.

The woman suffered an injured left eye that was bloodshot and bruising and also had a lump on her forehead, police said.

Walker was arraigned by on-call District Judge Mary Ann Zanghi of Vinco and sent to Cambria County Prison after failing to post 10 percent of $10,000 bond.
