City man faces trial in kiddie porn case

JOHNSTOWN — A Johnstown man accused of sharing more than 200 images of child pornography over the Internet will stand trial in Cambria County court.

Thomas M. Minana, 51, of the 200 block of Paul Street, waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge Leonard Grecek of Roxbury.

Minana was charged with 221 counts of sexual abuse of children. The charges encompass both possession and dissemination of images of children younger than 18 engaged in sexual acts.

The file sharing allegedly took place in March 2012.

Minana also was charged with one count each of criminal use of a communication facility and possessing instruments of crime (criminal use of a computer). Minana also faces three counts of obscene and other sexual material and performances.

Authorities said Minana used peer to peer file sharing software to send the images to others.

He is represented by public defender Richard Messina of Johnstown. Messina was not available for comment Thursday.

Minana is free on unsecured bond.
