A Johnstown man was jailed Tuesday after police said he fought with officers during an investigation of reported gunshots in the 1200 block of Franklin Street in the city’s Roxbury neighborhood.
A resident reported hearing two gunshots about 7:30 p.m., police said. Officers were unable to find evidence of a shooting but detained one man for questioning.
Perry Black, 41, of the 1200 block of Franklin Street, was taken to the Public Safety Building on Washington Street. While there, Black fought with several officers, police said in a criminal complaint.
Black was charged with resisting arrest, obstructing administration of law and disorderly conduct.
Police said they received conflicting reports about the alleged gunshots.
“When I came downstairs, there were police lining (the street),” said a neighbor, Jessica Gomulka, who moved her children to the attic. “(The police) wouldn’t let us leave our houses,” she said.
“There were no shots,” neighbor Diane Cole said, “but the police had their guns out.”
Black was arraigned by on-call District Judge Max Pavlovich of Richland Township and sent to the Cambria County Prison after failing to post 10 percent of $15,000 bond.
