Portage man arraigned on charges
A Portage man accused of stalking his wife after getting out of prison and impersonating a police chief was arraigned this week.
West Hills Regional police charged George Lucas Lane, 35, with stalking and criminal use of a communication facility stemming from a
Jan. 20 incident.
Lane allegedly sent harassing emails to his estranged wife at Forever Broadcasting Corp. on Plaza Drive in Lower Yoder Township two days after getting out of the Cambria County Prison.
Lane also is alleged to have placed a phone call to the business identifying himself as Portage police Chief Ed Miller to report that George Lane had been killed in a car crash.
Lane was arraigned by District Judge Mary Ann Zanghi of Vinco and returned to the county prison.
Auditions scheduled for passion play
Greater Johnstown Christian Fellowship, 3429 Elton Road, will hold auditions for singing and speaking parts for its passion play from 6 to 8:30 this evening at the church.
College will hold financial aid session
Mount Aloysius College will conduct a Free Application for Federal Student Aid financial aid workshop at
6 p.m. on Monday in Room 229 of the main building
The event is designed to help parents planning to seek financial aid for a student this year.
In addition to the college’s financial aid staff, representatives from the regional Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency will be available to answer questions related to the PHEAA state grant program.
Anyone planning to attend the workshop or who has a question regarding financial aid can contact the college’s financial aid office at 886-6357.
There is no cost for participation.
Social Security workshop offered
A free informational Social Security workshop will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The session will be held in the auditorium of Boscov’s at The Galleria in Richland Township.
“Savvy Social Security Planning: What Baby Boomers Need to Know to Maximize Retirement Income” will be presented by Joseph A. Carpenter and Samuel G. Carpenter of Carpenter Financial Services.
