Armed robber hits Bedford jewelry story

BEDFORD — State police at Bedford are investigating a second armed robbery in two days.

A man displaying a black handgun went into Crown Jewelers at 9503 Lincoln Highway in Snake Spring Township and demanded the clerk turn over all of the money from the cash drawer.

Trooper Matthew Auker said the man was given an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the store on foot.

The robbery occurred Tuesday shortly after 4 p.m. and was captured on video, Auker said.

The Denny's restaurant on Business Route 220, near the Bedford Interchange of the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Bedford Township, was robbed early Tuesday morning by two masked individuals with knives.

Police have not said of the crimes are believed to be connected.
