Job fair will assist veterans

ALTOONA — Area veterans and their spouses will get a chance to meet with representatives from more than 50 companies looking to fill jobs.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation will host a job fair Wednesday at the Jaffa Shrine in Altoona that will include more than 50 companies looking to fill positions, chamber officials said.

The event is dubbed “Hiring Our Heroes.”

“Companies range from America’s biggest employers to dozens of small companies from the region,” the chamber foundation said in a press release.

Interested job seekers can register at hoh.greatjob.net.

Registration is free and veterans can show up as walk-ins but must show proper proof of service, organizers said.

The Blair County Chamber of Commerce, The American Legion, and several state and federal agencies are partnering to hold the fair.
