ACRP accepting garden proposals

Organizers of a project aimed at planting community gardens throughout the Johnstown area have resources left to plan two more gardens.

The Alternative Community Resource Center is inviting anyone wishing to submit a proposal for one of the two final community projects to bring detailed plans and photos to a meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday the ACRP office.

ACRP officials said the meeting also be will for those preparing to put already approved gardens in town.

Federal gun laws topic of town hall

YOUNGWOOD – The Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office will hold a town hall meeting to discuss recently proposed federal gun legislation.

The event will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Westmoreland County Community College’s Founders Hall Amphitheater on the Youngwood campus.

Public forum set on Pa. coal industry

CLEARFIELD – State Rep. Tommy Sankey, R-Clearfield, is inviting anyone with an interest in or questions about the future of Pennsylvania’s coal industry to attend his public forum, set for 2 p.m. Friday in the multipurpose room of Lock Haven University’s Clearfield campus at 201 University Drive.

Representatives from GenOn/NRG Energy’s Shawville facility and a number of coal companies are expected to attend, along with state lawmakers.
