Kids-themed spa coming to Galleria

JOHNSTOWN — When Ayanna Williams was planning her first Kids Candy Spa in western New York three years ago, she turned to her 7-year-old daughter for advice.

The result was a candy-themed concoction that might seem straight out of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory – a spa where kids are treated with sweets, replacing mud masks with chocolate ones.

Think: Edible face masks and even pedicures using soap made with sprinkles, Williams said.

“We’re a celebration,” she said. “This isn’t like going to the spa with Mom. You’re going to come here and have fun.”

Williams said kids will be treated to the same sweet escape next month when she opens her first Pennsylvania location inside The Galleria mall.

There, kids will have the chance to make their own candy-flavored lip gloss and soaps – the latter, she says, is just about the only product they offer that isn’t edible.

Locations now offer a Nestle Crunch lounge area, party rooms and “plenty of sweets” for sale, Williams said.

Williams opened her first Candy Kids Spa in Tonowanda, N.Y. in 2010 and has since opened three more stores in New York. A fourth location opened in Canada.

Construction is already underway on the location and a mid-May opening is likely, Williams said.
