Muggy weather to linger

JOHNSTOWN — It is probably going to remain hot and muggy for at least four more days in the Laurel Highlands.

Highs are likely to reach the upper 80s to low 90s in lowland areas between today and Friday, according to AccuWeather senior meteorologist Tom Kines. Higher elevations should see temperatures hit the mid-to-upper 80s.

“This week, in general, is certainly going to feel like summer,” Kines said.

An east-moving front is then expected to pass near the region, dropping temperatures, cutting the humidity and possibly introducing thunderstorms over the weekend.

Individuals, especially seniors, are advised to take precautions against the heat: Drink plenty of water, limit physical activities, wear light clothing and stay in air conditioning.
