Dale joins crackdown on rental properties

JOHNSTOWN — Dale Borough Council members on Tuesday became the latest Johnstown-area officials to adopt a strict new ordinance regulating residential rental properties.

Pending a final signature from Mayor Raymond Howard, the ordinance will require landlords to register their properties with the borough and to open those apartments to regular governmental inspections.

Council President Jerry Held said the law could help officials address problematic rentals that often are owned by absentee landlords.
