A Johnstown man was jailed on Tuesday after police said they found him with heroin – and shortly after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend in a dispute over candy.
In a criminal complaint, city police said Jonah Berman Coleman, 19, assaulted the woman inside an apartment in the 300 block of Gray Avenue.
Coleman allegedly headbutted the woman in the face and shoved her. Police said the woman’s face was swollen and black and blue.
The woman reportedly told police Coleman became upset be-cause she was going to give a piece of candy to a child, police said.
When they took Coleman into custody, police said he was carrying suspected heroin.
Coleman was arraigned by District Judge Mary Ann Zanghi of Vinco on charges of drug possession, simple assault and harassment.
He was sent to the Cambria County Prison after failing to post 10 percent of $10,000 bond.
