Police release photograph of bank robber

JOHNSTOWN — Johnstown police have released a photograph of the man who robbed a First National Bank branch in the downtown at gunpoint last week.

City police Chief Craig Foust said a black male with light skin or hispanic male wearing a black hood robbed the bank on Walnut Street. The robber entered the bank, displayed a handgun and demanded money.

The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of money, and the man fled in a stolen pickup truck.

No injuries were reported. At least one customer and several employees were in the bank, Foust said.

The man jumped into the pickup truck and drove off.

The pickup truck was reported stolen in Old Conemaugh Borough just minutes before the bank was robbed, Foust said.

The truck was recovered a short time later near an abandoned building on William Penn Avenue, a few miles from the bank, he said.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to contact authorities at 1-800-281-1680.
