Resident reappointed to Pa. fire safety panel

JOHNSTOWN — State Fire Commissioner Edward Mann said he can always receive honest and open input from Johnstown’s Art Martynuska.

That’s why Mann was pleased when Gov. Tom Corbett recently reappointed Martynuska to Pennsylvania’s Fire Safety Advisory Committee, which provides the commissioner information about the needs of firefighters.

“I certainly want truthful counsel (from people like Martynuska) before I make decisions,” Mann said.

Martynuska has served on the safety board since 2009.

“It’s certainly an honor to be on that committee and help make the rules and regulations for firefighters,” he said.

Martynuska is president of the Pennsylvania Professional Fire Fighters Association.

He retired from the Johnstown Fire Department in 2010 after reaching the rank of assistant chief
