Man admits moving corpse

SOMERSET — A Somerset area man pleaded guilty in Somerset County court to a charge of abuse of a corpse.

Michael T. Moore, 37, of Stoystown Road, entered the plea Monday before Judge John M. Cascio.

Moore faces a maximum of two years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

A date for his sentencing has not been set.

He remained lodged Tuesday in the Somerset County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail.

State police said that Moore’s girlfriend told police that Frankie Allen Sass, 53, of Friedens, had showed up at her apartment Jan. 23.

Not long after, she realized that Sass, a friend of Moore, had died, police said.

The girlfriend said she and Moore panicked and called another man to help get the body into Sass’ truck.

Police said the woman told them that she and Moore drove the body to another location in the Somerset area, wiped the truck, threw the keys inside and walked back to her apartment.
