Cambria County's 10 Most Wanted

The following are the fugitives on the list of Cambria County’s 10 Most Wanted, with their ages, last known addresses and the charges against them:

Tips may be made to the nonemergency number, (800) 281-1681 through the police dispatcher or to the district attorney and sheriff’s offices at the courthouse.

• Cashous Bowers, 40, 300 block of Arthur Street, Johnstown. Simple assault, disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana, resisting arrest and institutional vandalism. Failed to appear for court hearing.

• Terrence Chigas, 24, addresses in Hastings. Passing bad checks and theft by deception. Failed to appear for magistrate’s hearing.

• Thomas Leventry, 23, with addresses in both Johnstown and Nanty Glo. Fleeing to avoid ap-prehension, loitering or prowling at night, drunken driving, possession of drug paraphernalia, public drunkenness, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief. Failed to appear for court hearings.

• Michael Miller, 32, 300 block of West Ogle Street, Ebensburg. Bad checks, identify theft, unauthorized use of motor vehicle, theft by deception and food-stamp fraud. Failed to appear for magistrate’s hearing and wanted for probation violation on bad-check charges.

• Dustin Querry, 21, addresses in Johnstown. Fleeing to avoid apprehension, disorderly conduct, harassment, aggravated and simple assault and drug delivery. Failed to report for court hearing and wanted for probation violations.

• Che Rose, 44, 400 block of Ebensburg Road, Johnstown. Drug delivery and drug possession. Wanted for violating his probation for failing to pay costs and fines.

• Joseph Scott Shaw, 36, with addresses in Johnstown and Portage. Drug law violations, identity theft and forgery. Failed to appear for pre-sentence investigation.

• Leon Szewczyk, 22, 300 block of Ihmsen Avenue, Johnstown. Robbery, escape, fleeing to avoid apprehension, gun violation and possession of marijuana. Failed to appear for court hearing.

• Clarence Whittington, 44, 100 block of Gautier Street, Johnstown. Burglary, theft, criminal mischief, receiving stolen property and criminal trespass. Wanted for probation violation.

• Terrance Wilson, 33, 500 block of Fronheiser Street, Johnstown. Robbery, theft and receiving stolen property. Failed to appear for court hearing in one case and failed to pay costs and fines in another.

  • Old Rockwood hotel will soon be history

    The historic – but dilapidated – Merchants Hotel in Rockwood is expected to be razed soon.
    On Tuesday, Somerset County’s three commissioners unanimously agreed to a demolition plan for the building, which was constructed in the 1880s. The arrangement calls for a private citizen, William Nair, to tear down the structure at 703 Main St. in exchange for being allowed to keep any salvageable materials.

  • ATV blast ready to roll at Rock Run

    Organizers are keeping the spirit of the Fisher’s ATV Reunion at Rock Run Recreation Area alive despite losing the support of the award-winning Outdoor Channel TV show “Fisher’s ATV World.” Now called the Rock Run ATV Summer Blast, the event will continue to offer demonstration rides, motor competitions, product vendors, live music, camping and trail riding.

  • Culvert 1 Preservationists use age-old method at historic site

    Preservation work on two historic culverts associated with the Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site has been completed. The culverts were reconstructed using a variety of techniques, including dry stone masonry, which was used to build the culverts more than 180 years ago.

  • Officer, civilian motorist injured in crash

    A Johnstown police officer who was responding to an emergency and one other driver were taken to the hospital after they were injured in a three-vehicle accident around 5:40 p.m. Tuesday on Railroad Street at the intersection with Clinton Street and Church Avenue.
    The Johnstown Fire Department said that the three occupants of the third vehicle were not injured.
