Legal notice filed in Blair County court on behalf of former McCort students

A legal notice was filed Monday in Blair County court on behalf of three former Bishop McCort Catholic High School students who claim they were sexually molested by the late Brother Stephen Baker while he worked at the high school.

The notice that the lawsuit has commenced was filed by attorney Richard Serbin, of Altoona, on behalf of men he identified only as John Doe 75; John Doe 76 and John Doe, 77.

Named are the Franciscan Friars Third Order Regular, Father Robert D'Aversa; the Roman Catholic Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown; and Bishop McCort Catholic High School.

Baker was a teacher and worked in the athletic department at Bishop McCort from 1992 to the early 2000s.

He died in late January after stabbing himself in the chest.
