Police seek suspects in Moxham shooting

JOHNSTOWN — A man is in the hospital following a shooting Monday night in the Moxham section of Johnstown and police are searching for three suspects.

Someone “walked up onto the porch of a house and shot the individual,” city police Capt. Andrew Frear said.

The shooting happened at 10:51 p.m. in the 700 block of Highland Avenue.

Police have not released the name of the victim, who is in his 20s.

He was taken to Memorial Medical Center. Police later arrested 19-year-old Catier Marquai Cashaw of Ash Street. Police are trying to determine what role Cashaw may have played in the shooting, Frear said.

Cashaw was charged with receiving stolen property, carrying a firearm without a licence, possession of marijuana and criminal conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance.

Police were looking for three black men wearing dark clothing, one wearing a skull mask.

Cashaw was wearing dark clothing when he was found walking on Linden Avenue. He was carrying a stolen 9 mm handgun wrapped in a sock and a small amount of marijuana, police said.

Cashaw was arraigned by District Judge Mary Ann Zanghi of Vinco and sent to the Cambria County Prison after failing to post 10 percent of $25,000 bond.
