In brief: Sex assault suspect turns himself in



Rock thrown at IUP coed’s apartment

INDIANA – Indiana Borough police are looking for whoever broke a window and damaged a screen at the off-campus apartment of a female IUP student.

Police said the incident took place late Tuesday night or early Wednesday when someone threw a rock at the apartment, located in the 700 block of South Street.

Food safety certification offered

SOMERSET – ServSafe certification classes will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Sept. 12 and 13 and Sept. 19 and 20 at Somerset County Technology Center.

As of this year, the state Department of Agriculture requires the person in charge of a food service operation to hold a nationally recognized food protection certificate such as ServSafe.

The deadline to register for the course is Tuesday.
