Retailer offers rich rewards for community service

— Wisconsin-based retailer Kohl’s Inc. plans to reward 2,300 youngsters ages 6 to 18 with $425,000 in scholarships and prizes.

Awards range from $50 to $10,000 to recognize selfless acts of community service.

Through the Kohl’s Kids Who Care Scholarship Program, more than 17,000 scholarships and prizes totaling more than $3.2 million have been awarded to youth volunteers nationwide since 2001.

Ten national winners will be awarded a total of $10,000 in scholarships for postsecondary education, and Kohl’s will donate $1,000 to a nonprofit organization on each national winner’s behalf.
