In brief: Somerset GOP to hold rally for Rothfus

FRIEDENS — Somerset Republican Party chairman James T. Yoder and vice chairman Bob Bastian will be the hosts for a breakfast rally Saturday for Keith Rothfus, the GOP candidate for the 12th Congressional District seat.

The breakfast will be held at 8:30 a.m. at Mostollers’ Restaurant. Tickets are $75 a person or $100 a couple, Yoder said.

Christmas shopping event set Saturday

DAVIDSVILLE – A Christmas shopping opportunity will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Laurel View Village, 2000 Cambridge Court.

Vendors and crafters will be there with cash-and-carry items as well as taking orders.

Products from Thirty-One, Pampered Chef, Lia Sofia, Tastefully Simple, Scentsy and more will be offered.

Westmont school seeks contest votes

After a competitive national nomination period, Westmont Hilltop Elementary School is in the running to receive a $50,000 prize from the Clorox Company’s Power A Bright Future grant program.

As school budgets continue to shrink, the Clorox Company’s Power A Bright Future grant program steps in to help fund new or ongoing programs that allow children to play, create and explore.

From Monday through Dec. 12, adults and children 13 and older can vote once a day for the Westmont Elementary School’s program by visiting the website www.PowerABrightFu­

The program that receives the highest number of votes will be awarded the $50,000 grand prize.

The next top vote-getters in the Play, Create and Explore categories each will be awarded a $25,000 grant.

Clorox’s judging panel will select three additional schools, one in each category, to win a $25,000 judge’s choice grant.
