Boy, 12, accused of holding up lemonade stand

— A 12-year-old boy is in trouble with the law after police said he robbed a lemonade stand with a BB gun.

Johnstown police Sgt. Patrick Goggin said police were called to the corner of Bond Street and Cypress Avenue at 5:43 p.m.  Monday for a disturbance involving juveniles.

He said a 12-year-old boy approached a 10-year-old boy who was operating a lemonade stand.

“He had what appeared to be a handgun in his pocket,” Goggin said.

The 12-year-old boy then threatened to shoot the other boy if he didn’t hand over the money, Goggin said.

“They got into a wrestling match over the money box,” he said.

The alleged robber made off with $30, but not before tearing apart the lemonade stand.

Three other youths ages 8, 10 and 13 witnessed the incident and helped police track down the 12-year-old.

“He ran home with the other kids chasing him,” Goggin said.

Police said they found him at his home nearby.

Police determined the handgun was a BB gun.

The boy will be charged in juvenile court.
