Cop punches a man who allegedly 'mooned' then attacked him; attorney is claiming self-defense

ALTOONA —

An attorney for a central Pennsylvania police officer accused of having punched someone after a concert near Pittsburgh says his client defended himself when a large man took a swing at him.

Attorney Steven Passarello told The (Altoona) Mirror that the aggravated assault case against Altoona patrol officer Matthew Plummer is "a classic case of self-defense."

Plummer was charged Saturday in Hanover Township after police alleged that he punched a man who bared his buttocks at a bus that took Plummer, several other off-duty officers, and 911 dispatchers to the Kid Rock concert at First Niagara Pavilion. That's about 25 miles west of Pittsburgh and 100 miles from Altoona.

Passarello said Wednesday that his client won't waive the aggravated assault charge to court and will have a hearing.
