UPJ to host GreenFest

Radio personality will present workshop

JOHNSTOWN — The Allegheny Mountain GreenFest will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 14 at Pitt-Johnstown’s Living Learning Center.

Sponsored by Natural Biodiversity, the event will feature National Public Radio personality Mike McGrath.

McGrath is host of NPR’s “You Bet Your Garden.”

He will present “The Seven Secrets of Successful Organic Gardeners” and a workshop on growing tomatoes.

The Eco Expo will feature businesses offering products and services to help “green your routine.”

Green items, such as rain barrels, local foods, natural health supplements, solar and other green building supplies and native landscape plants, will be available for purchase.

The event will also feature hands-on workshops and children’s activities.

Workshops will highlight subjects such as canning, home energy audits, kitchen remedies, wine making and composting.

Tickets to the event cost $15. Tickets purchased by May 6 will receive $5 off ticket prices. Parking is free.
