Teams needed for Light the Night Walk
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society is seeking teams for its 14th annual Light the Night Walk.
The event will be held Oct. 5 on the Pitt-Johnstown campus in Richland Township.
Pre-walk food, entertainment and children’s activities will begin at 5 p.m. behind Blackington Hall, and the walk will start at 7.
The 2-mile noncompetitive walk is being sponsored by the Johnstown Tomahawks. Team president Richard Bouchard and general manager Rick Boyd will serve as walk co-chairmen.
The event will raise funds for the society’s mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families

Crash closes part of Scalp Avenue
A portion of Scalp Avenue in Richland Township was closed for more than 12 hours following a traffic accident that happened about 3:30 a.m. Saturday.
The stretch from Berwick Road to Theatre Drive was closed as crews worked to repair damage done when a vehicle struck a utility pole.
No details concerning the name and condition of the driver were available late Saturday.
