Ebensburg man arrested in bank robberies

ARMAGH — State police say they’ve charged an Ebensburg man with robbing two local banks, but have yet to release details on his arrest.

Troopers from Ebensburg planned to release additional information about the arrest of 45-year-old Jeffrey Pellegrino on Thursday in the robberies in Armagh and Cresson.

The S&T Bank in Armagh was robbed about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, while the First National Bank in Cresson was robbed about 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Police say the Pellegrino threatened tellers with a knife in the Armagh robbery.

Police have said the man has confessed to the robberies, but they’ve yet to release details on how he was caught. He is lodged in Indiana County Jail awaiting arraignment.
